Seven-Grain, Crunchy, Yummy Beakfast!

So, I tried a new cereal this morning that I just have to share with you. I am a big-time lover of Kashi products, and this granola just made me even more excited about the company’s seven-grain goodness:

Now, I have not yet tried the Summer Berry, but if it is anywhere near as good as the Cocoa Beach, than I am excited! And the nutrition facts are even better — especially for granola! What I mean is that I love the oats and crunchiness of most granolas, but the calories and fat are often a bit overwhelming.

But check out the stats for these ones:

A 1/2 cup serving of the Cocoa Beach granola is 230 calories, 9 grams of fat (1.5 g saturated fat), 6 grams of dietary fiber and 11 grams of sugar. A 1/2 cup of the Summer Berry contains 210 calories, 6 grams of fat (1 gram saturated), 6 grams of dietary fiber and 9 grams of sugar.

I know the Cocoa Beach has a little more fat, but the saturated fat remains low, and the chocolate flavor makes this an ideal snack when compared to the typical brownie!

Now, I cannot wait to try the Mountain Medley and Orchard Spice granolas!

Yum! I love cereal…and granola. But, I agree that it is often high in calories and fat. This sounds great though, I will have to try! Thanks for sharing!

I’ve never tried Kashi cereal before, but I’ve tried one of their frozen meals and I didn’t really like it. Maybe because the frozen meal was way past it’s due date. It was old, maybe more than a year or so. I think I liked it then, but I didn’t like it now.

Kashi makes good things, healthy things. Fit for Self Challenge things.

  3. Cristina — I completely agree with you — Kashi does fit perfectly into the SELF Challenge. I like the frozen black bean mango dinner (if you like spicy) and also the GO Lean! Crunch cereal. Let me know if you try anything new!

It’s good to know that there is a healthy granola out there. I was at the grocery store Tues. and they had a bunch of granola cereal on sale in the organic aisle. I must have stood there for 5 minutes trying to decide if I should buy it because A: I like it, and B: it’s on sale. Or do I just stay away from the granola because I love it so much I would eat the whole box. I decided to pass, but unfortunately last night I binged on-get this- a soft pretzel, a small reeses peanut butter egg, and then not 1 but 2 bowls of Fiber One cereral. I have a serious issue.

  5. Aunt Shawna — That really is quite the combo! I also do that all of the time in the grocery store — I spend forever comparing labels and ingredients. But it is always good to know that you are making the best choice, right?
