Yom Kippur and Barack — What a Day!!

First off, Happy Yom Kippur! I am celebrating the holiday today with my Jewish fiancé, Dan, and we are looking very forward to eating a fabulous dinner when we break fast tonight. Much Jewish love to all of you!

Big news: After services this morning, I trekked it over to the Dayton Dragon’s Fifth Third Field to see none other than BARACK OBAMA!! Oh-my-freaking-gosh, it was so exciting. He is absolutely magnetic. I managed to squeeze down to where I was just three rows from the main crowd — so cool! Here are some pictures to get you hyped up. Ignore the baseball net … I wish I could have worked my way around it.

Lemme tell you … there is nothing more exciting for a political junkie like me than being thisclose to the future president of the United States.

I will be posting some videos tomorrow. For now enjoy the photos, and if you are Jewish, your yummy dinner!

Let’s Talk Politics …

Sometimes, I feel like maybe people say they “don’t talk politics” because not talking about politics seems so much easier than … talking about it.

It’s a sticky ground to walk, taking the risk to discuss the ins and out of political statements, theories, ideas and so on. But if we do not talk about it, then how else will we learn and become the educated individuals that we need to be in order to make the best decisions for our country?

I have hesitated several times to speak of politics in this forum. But given the importance of and the height at which this election year has risen, I feel as though I would be remiss, even irresponsible, to not drum up a bit of conversation.

Is there not anything better that we can do for each other, for our country, then to inform one another of the absolute depth of this upcoming decision?

We need to talk politics, we need to stress the importance of voting (VOTE! PLEASE VOTE! HAVE A VOICE OR NO COMPLAINING!), we need to discuss not just the presidential nominees, but their chosen vice presidents (If McCain dies in office, are you OK with Sarah Palin being your president?! And the same, of course, goes for Biden.). Talk, talk, talk and discuss until you are blue (or red) in the face.

Here are a few political discussions, articles and videos for fodder. Read or watch them, and take them in for the ideas and concepts that they each present to you. I found them enlightening, and I hope you do, too:
